NTU AY2026/2027 Semester 2 Modules: What Is New and What Changed

AY2026/2027 Semester 2 module and class index data is now live on NTUMods. Semester 2 teaching begins on Monday 11 January 2027, so this is the right time to shortlist modules, compare indexes and test timetables before registration opens. This page goes through what is in the data, which schools changed the most, the modules that appear for the first time, and how the weekly timetable differs from Semester 1.

Start planning for Semester 2

Browse 1,092 modules, compare class indexes and build a clash-free timetable. NTUMods now defaults to AY2026/2027 Semester 2.

Browse Semester 2 modules

Quick summary: 1,092 modules and 4,306 class indexes are offered. That is slightly fewer than Semester 1 (1,138 modules and 4,591 indexes). 61 modules are new to the data. Art, Design & Media grew the most, while Communication Studies and Sport Science and Management shrank the most. The Semester 2 exam timetable is not released yet.

Semester 2 at a glance

AY2026/27 Sem 2 AY2026/27 Sem 1 AY2025/26 Sem 2
Modules offered 1,092 1,138 1,085
Class indexes 4,306 4,591 4,230
Class slots (lectures, tutorials, labs) 9,687 n/a n/a

Compared with the same semester last year, Semester 2 has 7 more modules and 76 more indexes. Compared with Semester 1, it has 46 fewer modules.

How much of the list carries over:

Modules
Also offered in AY2026/27 Semester 1 392
Offered in Semester 2 only (not in Semester 1) 700
Also offered in AY2025/26 Semester 2 878
New to NTUMods (never offered in any earlier semester in the data) 61

Most modules run in only one semester each year, which is why only about 390 modules appear in both. If a module you wanted is missing, open its module page and check which semesters it has been offered in. Modules that ran in Semester 2 last year are the best guide: 878 of this semester’s modules did.

Modules by level

Level Sem 2 Sem 1
Level 0 (common core and career modules, such as CC and ML) 43 48
Level 1000 110 108
Level 2000 267 259
Level 3000 224 239
Level 4000 225 243
Level 5000 151 157

Year 1 and Year 2 modules are slightly more plentiful than in Semester 1, while Year 3 and Year 4 modules are slightly fewer. The count of 5000-level modules is similar.

Modules by AU

AU Sem 2 Sem 1
0 AU 15 1
1 AU 25 32
2 AU 44 49
3 AU 810 838
4 AU 192 211
5 AU and above 6 7

Three-AU modules remain the large majority. The jump in 0 AU modules comes from the new EEE laboratory modules described below. Check your programme requirements for how those count before you plan around them.

How the weekly timetable looks

The shape of the week is different from Semester 1, which matters when you compare indexes.

Day Class slots, Sem 2 Class slots, Sem 1
Monday 1,967 1,738
Tuesday 2,120 1,690
Wednesday 2,155 1,650
Thursday 2,004 1,794
Friday 1,410 2,028

Semester 2 slots are spread more evenly from Monday to Thursday, with a lighter Friday. Slots that start at 6pm or later also fall from 1,050 in Semester 1 to 392. If you want a free Friday, you will have an easier time this semester. Use the day and time filters in the Module Browser to narrow your search.

By type, the 9,687 slots are made up of 3,707 tutorials, 3,562 lectures, 1,512 seminars, 873 labs and a small number of project and design sessions. Seven indexes have no fixed day or time, which usually means online or flexible delivery. The timetable planner guide shows how those appear in your plan.

Modules with the most indexes

Large common modules have the most index choices, which makes them the easiest to fit around other classes:

Module Indexes
CC0001 Inquiry & Communication in an Interdisciplinary World 153
CC0007 Science & Technology for Humanity 117
ML0004 Career Design & Workplace Readiness in a Dynamic World 90
CC0006 Sustainability: Society, Economy & Environment 83
CC0015 Health & Wellbeing 58

See Best CC Modules at NTU if you are choosing between common core options.

What is not out yet

  • Exam timetable. NTU has not released the Semester 2 exam timetable, so the exam schedule keeps showing the Semester 1 exams, which have not finished yet. It will switch to Semester 2 once NTU publishes that timetable. See NTU Exam Timetable and Seating.

How to plan your Semester 2 timetable

  1. Check the rules first. Work out which requirements you still need from your degree audit, then read the module selection guide.
  2. Shortlist modules. Use the Module Browser and filter by school, level, day and time. Each module page shows prerequisites, exclusions and class indexes.
  3. Compare indexes. Add modules to a plan in the timetable planner and check for clashes. You can add your own commitments with custom blocks.
  4. Follow the pre-registration workflow. How to Plan NTU Modules Before STARS Opens and the STARS guide cover what to do when your first choice fills up.
  5. Plan BDE bids. See how to bid for BDEs and when allocation results are released.
  6. Export your plan. Calendar export now uses the Semester 2 start date and recess week.
