NTU BDE Allocation Results: Release Date, How to Check and How to Appeal

If you placed a BDE on your waitlist or bid for one during course registration, the next question is always the same: when do the results come out? This guide uses the official Schedule of Key Academic Activities from Nanyang Technological University (NTU Singapore) to answer that, and explains what to do once the results are released.

Quick summary: NTU releases GERPE, UE and BDE allocation results in early August for Semester 1 and early January for Semester 2. The add/drop period for full-time undergraduates then runs through Teaching Weeks 1 and 2. If you did not get a BDE, you can appeal through the Online Appeal System in your student intranet.

When are NTU BDE allocation results released?

NTU publishes timing at month level in its Schedule of Key Academic Activities for undergraduate programmes. The rows that matter for BDE are below.

Activity Semester 1 Semester 2
Release of course registration schedule April October
Release of class schedule End May Mid November
Course registration period Mid to end June December
Release of GERPE/UE/BDE allocation results Early August Early January
Add/drop period (full-time) Teaching Weeks 1 and 2 Teaching Weeks 1 and 2

NTU does not publish a single calendar date for the allocation release in advance. The exact timing for your cohort appears in your personal course registration schedule, so check it when it is released in April or October.

What the allocation actually covers

GERPE, UE and BDE modules are allocated after the registration period closes, rather than first come, first served. This is why a BDE you registered for or waitlisted is not confirmed until the results are out. Core modules for your programme are usually pre-registered by your school and are not part of this release.

If you want to understand how BDE requirements and categories work before you bid, see What Is a BDE at NTU and How to Bid for a BDE at NTU.

How to check your BDE allocation results

  1. Wait for the release window in the table above.
  2. Log in to STARS with your NTU network username and password.
  3. Open your registered courses and check whether each BDE now appears as registered.
  4. Cross-check your degree audit to confirm the BDE counts toward the right requirement.

If you placed a BDE on the waitlist, check your results after the allocation is released, because a waitlisted course only becomes registered if a seat is allocated to you.

What to do if you did not get your BDE

You have three practical options, and they are not mutually exclusive.

  1. Use add/drop. Seats often reopen in Teaching Weeks 1 and 2 as students drop modules. See the add/drop guide for how to monitor seats.
  2. Pick a backup BDE. Build a shortlist of alternatives with similar timings before results are out. Browse BDE modules, indexes and class times in the NTUMods module browser, check their exam dates in the exam schedule, and see the complete BDE list and easy BDE guide.
  3. Appeal. NTU states that students who wish to appeal for GERPE, UE or BDE courses must apply through the Online Appeal System in the student intranet. Appeals are decided by the university, so treat them as a last resort rather than a plan.

Plan around the timeline

The sequence matters more than any single date. Build your timetable and backups in April or October, register in the registration period, read your results in early August or early January, and use add/drop to fix whatever is left. The NTUMods timetable planner helps with the first step, and the academic calendar guide shows how these weeks fit into the semester.

Frequently asked questions

When are NTU BDE results released?

NTU releases GERPE, UE and BDE allocation results in early August for Semester 1 and early January for Semester 2. Your personal course registration schedule gives the timing that applies to you.

How do I check my BDE allocation at NTU?

Log in to STARS after the allocation release and check whether the BDE now appears among your registered courses. Confirm it against your degree audit afterwards.

Can I still get a BDE if I did not get allocated?

Often yes. Seats open during the add/drop period, which runs through Teaching Weeks 1 and 2 for full-time undergraduates. You can also appeal through the Online Appeal System in the student intranet.

How do I appeal for a BDE at NTU?

Use the Online Appeal System in your student intranet. NTU requires GERPE, UE and BDE appeals to go through that system, not through email to the module coordinator.

Does a waitlisted BDE count as registered?

No. A waitlisted BDE only becomes registered if a seat is allocated to you. Check your STARS record after the allocation results are released.
