NTU Degree Audit: How to Check Your Graduation Requirements
The degree audit is NTU’s official record of what you have completed and what you still need to graduate. It is not the same as STARS, and it is not the same as your CGPA. This guide explains what it shows, where to find it, and how to actually use it when planning modules.

What the degree audit actually shows
The degree audit maps every module you have taken, or are currently registered for, against your programme’s graduation requirements. It groups requirements into categories such as:
- Core / Programme requirements — modules specific to your degree, usually with little flexibility

- UE (Unrestricted Electives) — see NTU Unrestricted Electives
- CC (Common Core) — see NTU Common Core Modules
- PE (Prescribed Electives) — programme-specific electives, requirements vary by school
- Total AU — your cumulative Academic Units against the AU required for your programme
For each category, the audit shows what is satisfied, what is in progress (registered but not yet graded), and what is still outstanding.
Where to find your degree audit

If you cannot locate it, check with your school’s academic office — the exact access path has changed between cohorts as NTU has updated its portal systems.
Why the degree audit matters more than STARS availability
STARS will let you register for a module if seats are available and prerequisites are met. It does not check whether that module satisfies a graduation requirement for your specific programme. This distinction causes real problems:
- A module might be open to you in STARS as a BDE, but your school’s requirements changed and it no longer counts
- A module might be pre-approved for one cohort’s curriculum but excluded for a later cohort
- Programme restrictions on BDE/UE eligibility can differ even within the same school

How to read your degree audit before STARS opens
- Check outstanding categories first. Identify which requirement buckets (core, BDE, UE, PE) still need modules, and how many AUs remain in each.
- Cross-check against your shortlist. Before you finalise your STARS shortlist, confirm each module actually maps to an outstanding category — not just that it is available to bid for.
- Watch for “in progress” modules. Modules you are currently taking show as in-progress, not yet fulfilled. If you are relying on a current module to satisfy a requirement, it will not show as complete until grades are released.
- Recheck after every semester. Requirements update after grades post. Re-run your audit at the start of each planning cycle rather than relying on a stale mental model from a previous semester.

Degree audit vs CGPA vs transcript
These three records answer different questions:

A module can appear complete on your transcript with a passing grade and still not satisfy a degree audit requirement, if it was taken outside the category your programme needs. Always check the degree audit specifically for graduation-requirement questions — the transcript and CGPA will not tell you that.
