About NTU honours classification

Your NTU honours class depends on your final CGPA, the AU-weighted average of grade points across every letter-graded module. For most honours degrees, Highest Distinction needs 4.50, Distinction 4.00, Merit 3.50 and Honours 3.00. This tool works backwards from those bands to the average grade your remaining AU need, so you can see which class is still within reach.

Frequently asked questions

How does NTU calculate CGPA?

CGPA is the AU-weighted average of grade points over every letter-graded module. A+ and A are 5.0, A- is 4.5, B+ is 4.0, B is 3.5, B- is 3.0, C+ is 2.5, C is 2.0, D+ is 1.5, D is 1.0 and F is 0. Modules graded Pass or No Record are left out.

What CGPA do I need for each honours class?

For most NTU honours degrees: Highest Distinction 4.50 and above, Distinction 4.00 to 4.49, Merit 3.50 to 3.99 and Honours 3.00 to 3.49. Some programmes publish their own bands, so confirm with your school.

What number do I put under AU left?

The AU you still expect to take for a grade. Subtract any you plan to Flexible-Grade, because those leave your CGPA. The planner assumes the same average grade across all of them.

Is my transcript uploaded anywhere?

No. The PDF is read inside your browser and nothing is sent to a server. Uploading is optional, you can type your CGPA instead.

Is the CGPA Planner official?

No. It is an unofficial NTUMods tool and is not affiliated with NTU. Your official CGPA and honours class are set by NTU.
