Applied Business Mathematics

Current offering — AY2026/2027 Semester 1

This course equips you with a solid foundation in mathematical thinking essential for various business disciplines at NBS. You will build core competencies in calculus, linear algebra, optimization, and in translating business questions into mathematical models. The aim is to strengthen your analytical reasoning, quantitative literacy, and decision-making skills, which are critical in today's data-driven and tech-enabled business environment. Throughout the course, you will learn how to interpret, apply, and communicate mathematical ideas to analyse practical business challenges in areas such as pricing, management, operations, optimization, and strategic planning. By grounding mathematical concepts in real-world relevance, the course helps you learn solid theory and apply them to conduct structured analysis and model business scenarios. By the end of this course, you will be better prepared for more advanced study in analytics, strategy, operations, and finance, with the confidence and mindset needed to approach complex problems systematically and effectively.
