This course introduces you to the fundamentals of creative thinking and design, the process of product design and development, idea generation, and problem-solving techniques, together with the foundations of visual design principles and elements. You will also learn to apply Human-centred Design to understand users and context, Generative Design to explore innovative solutions using computational tools, and Data-Driven Design to support evidence-based decision making. Through a series of assignments and mini-projects, you will gain practical experience in problem solving, form development, and design communication. By taking this course, you will build a strong foundation in modern design methodologies that are increasingly essential in engineering practice, product development, and technology-driven industries.
