Cm Classic EmperorS Canon Of Internal Medicine

Current offering — AY2026/2027 Semester 1

This course introduces students to the historical and theoretical foundations of TCM as encapsulated in the Emperor's Canon of Internal Medicine (Huangdi Neijing). It explores the text's significance, historical development, and enduring influence on Chinese medicine, while also developing students' textual literacy. In addition, the course emphasizes the integration of theory and practice by enabling students to correlate classical concepts, such as Yin-Yang and Zang-Fu theories, with modern clinical phenomena. It also cultivates critical thinking skills, encouraging learners to analyze etiological and pathophysiological ideas from the Neijing and engage in reflective, evidence-based discussions that bridge theoretical knowledge with practical application in diagnosis, treatment, and health preservation.
