The course focuses on cultural elements of the development of sport and physical activity in society today. The antecedents of today?s sport and physical activity patterns are examined in relation to changes in value systems that have occurred with the passage of time. Ranging from the origins of the Olympic Movement in Ancient Greece to the spread of a colonial model by the British, this course provides a foundation for sport studies of systems in many countries.
