Media Emotions Meaningfulness

This course examines media content (primarily films and social media clips) from a psychological perspective, focusing on the emotions they portray. It explores questions such as: How do people appraise these emotions? How do these emotions influence our behaviors? And how do these emotions contribute towards a sense of meaningfulness for us as we live our daily lives?

You should take this course if you're interested in:

  • Analyzing films and social media clips from an emotions-based perspective or a social cognitive perspective
  • Understanding the role that emotions play in driving a media narrative
  • Appreciating and interpreting films and video clips from a psychological perspective
  • Gaining deeper understanding of the emotions, psychological concepts, and philosophical principles that may (or may not) make our lives meaningful
