This course introduces students to the study of Singapore's cinema histories and industry. Students will explore key films and events that have shaped Singapore's cinema culture from the pre-independence era to the present, including ongoing issues and challenges faced by cinema professionals today. The course exposes students to methods and concepts in critical film analysis and media industries research, covering aspects relating to the production, exhibition, circulation, and reception of film in Singapore.
