NTU Campus Map: Find Any Lecture Theatre, Room and Walking Route

The first week of a semester has a familiar problem. Your timetable says LT19A, TR+12 or S2-B5C-02, and you have no idea where that is. The NTU campus is large, many of its buildings have several levels, and a room code on STARS tells you almost nothing about how to get there.

The NTUMods campus map is built to answer that question quickly. It covers the main NTU campus in Nanyang, with 582 class venues from the last two semesters, indoor floor plans on every level of the teaching buildings, and walking routes with times. It is free, needs no login, and works on a phone.

Quick summary: Open the campus map and type the venue from your timetable, for example LT19A or TR+3. The map jumps to the building and the right level. Use Directions for the walking time and the stairs or lifts to take. Use the chips to find halls, food, bus stops, car parks and toilets. Copy the link to share exactly what you see.

Find your lecture theatre or tutorial room

Type the venue exactly as it appears on your timetable. Results show the building and the level.

Use the search box at the top left. Type the venue from your timetable or from STARS, such as LKC-LT, LT19A, TR+3 or LHN-TR+12. Matches appear as you type, ranked so that an exact room code comes first.

The search also understands the words students use. Type gym, hostel, canteen, toilet or carpark and the map finds the matching places even when their official names are different.

A room card shows the level, the building and the room code, with buttons for directions and sharing.

Selecting a result opens a card with the room name, the building, the level and the official room code. Tap the building name to see every classroom in it, or tap the level to open that floor plan.

How to read an NTU room code

Most NTU room codes follow the same pattern: the building, then the level, then the room. Once you can read the pattern, a code tells you where to go before you even open a map.

Room code Venue How to read it
NS3-02-09 LT1 North Spine (section NS3), level 2, room 09
SS3-B2-10 LKC-LT South Spine (section SS3), basement 2, room 10
LHN-B2-12 TR+12 in The Arc Learning Hub North, basement 2, tutorial room 12
N4-01B-05 HWLAB2 Block N4, level 1, part B, room 05

A B before the number means a basement level, so B2 is two levels below ground. Level 1 is the ground floor of a building. The NTU student portals guide lists where to find official venue information, and the map links the short names used on STARS to these room codes for you.

See which level a room is on

Level 4 of North Spine. Rooms with classes are highlighted, and stairs and lifts are marked on every level.

NTU buildings stack many floors, and the entrance you use is often not the level of your class. The Level button on the map shows any floor from Basement 7 up to Level 9. Rooms that hold classes are highlighted, and stairs and lifts are marked so you can plan the vertical part of the walk before you arrive.

The map has indoor floor plans for the 38 buildings that hold classes and the places students look for most, including North Spine, South Spine, The Arc, Wee Cho Yaw Plaza and the schools around them. Choose a building, then pick a level from its Floor plans row. The level you are viewing is highlighted so you always know which floor you are looking at.

Find halls, food, bus stops, car parks and toilets

Pick a category to see every place of that type on the map and in a list. Type in the search box to filter within it.

The chips above the map open lists of the places students ask about most. The map currently knows about:

  • 45 lecture theatres
  • 22 halls of residence
  • 52 food outlets and canteens
  • 69 study spaces, including libraries and lounges
  • 46 bus stops and MRT exits
  • 55 car parks, useful for anyone who drives
  • 66 sports facilities, including gyms and the swimming pool
  • 12 exam halls
  • 588 toilets across the buildings
  • 17 shops and ATMs

Pick a category and its places appear on the map as icon markers. Type in the search box to filter within the category, for example Food and then rice. Large categories such as toilets are listed one level at a time, so you can see the ones nearest to your class.

Work out the walk between classes

Directions show the time, the distance and each step, including which levels to change between.

Back-to-back classes in different buildings are the most common reason for being late. Choose Directions, set a start and an end, and the map draws the route and lists each step with its distance. Steps that change level are marked, with the stairs or lift to take.

Use the result to judge whether a gap is realistic. A route from LT1 to the Learning Hub North lecture theatre is about 4 minutes. A walk from LT19A across to the Lee Kong Chian Lecture Theatre is about 11 minutes. If your gap between classes is shorter than the walk, look for another index on STARS or build a different plan in the timetable planner.

The times are estimates at an easy walking pace and include stairs and lifts. Allow extra at the busiest class changes, when the lifts and the spines are crowded.

Switch to satellite or hybrid view

The NTUMods campus map in hybrid view, with satellite imagery of the NTU campus and dark blue building boxes labelled with their namesThe NTUMods campus map in hybrid view, with satellite imagery of the NTU campus and dark blue building boxes labelled with their names
Hybrid view puts the building outlines and names over satellite imagery. Tap Hybrid again to change the colour of the buildings.

The Map button changes how the campus is drawn. Standard is a clean street map with lawns, water and roads. Satellite shows the real campus from above, which helps when you are trying to match the map to what you can see around you. Hybrid draws the building outlines and names on top of the satellite imagery.

In hybrid view, tap Hybrid again to cycle through four building colours: grey, dark grey, blue and dark blue. The same menu turns labels on or off, and Turn off all gives a clean view. Reset puts everything back.

Share a room or a route

Every view on the map is a link. Select a room, open a level, choose a category or set up a route, then use the Share button. On a phone it opens the share sheet. On a computer it copies the link.

The person who opens it sees the same place, the same level and the same map type, with no extra steps. It is the quickest way to tell a friend where your tutorial is, or to send a group chat the route to a study session.

Plan the semester around the walk

The map works best alongside your timetable. When you are choosing indexes, check where each class is held and whether the walk between them fits. The module selection guide explains how to weigh workload and timing, and the timetable planner shows every class in one weekly view. For exams, the exam schedule lists dates and times, and the exam timetable and seating guide explains where venue details are published. The map marks the 12 exam halls so you can find them in advance.

Where the map data comes from

I want students to know how reliable the map is, so here is where it comes from. Building outlines, indoor floor plans, rooms and walking routes come from NTU Maps, which is powered by MazeMap. Roads and greenery come from OpenStreetMap contributors. Satellite imagery comes from Esri.

Venue names on STARS are not always the same as the names on the official map, so NTUMods matches them using NTU’s own facilities list first and then by room code and name. A small number of venues are matched by name only. Their pins are drawn with a dashed outline and carry a note on the room card. For those, check the room number when you arrive.

Frequently asked questions

Is there an NTU campus map that shows lecture theatres?

Yes. The NTUMods campus map lists the lecture theatres of the main NTU campus, with their building, level and room code. Search for the name, such as LKC-LT or LT19A, or open the Lecture theatres chip to see all 45.

How do I find my lecture theatre at NTU?

Copy the venue from your timetable or STARS and type it into the search box on the map. The map jumps to the building and the level. If you are not sure how to get there from where you are, choose Directions and pick the building you are in as the start.

How long does it take to walk between classes at NTU?

It depends on the buildings and the levels. A short walk between neighbouring buildings can take about 4 minutes, while crossing from the North Spine area to the Lee Kong Chian Lecture Theatre can take about 11 minutes. The map gives an estimate for any two places, including the time spent on stairs and lifts.

Does the map show which floor a room is on?

Yes. Every room card shows its level, and the Level button opens the floor plan of any level in the 38 buildings with indoor maps. A B before a number means a basement level, and Level 1 is the ground floor.

Where are the car parks, bus stops and toilets on the NTU campus?

Use the chips above the map. Car parks, bus stops and MRT exits, toilets, food, halls, sports facilities and exam halls each have their own list, and their places appear on the map. Toilets are listed one level at a time because there are hundreds of them.

Can I share a room or a route with a friend?

Yes. Use the Share button on a room, a category or a route. The link opens the same place, level and map type for the other person. Nobody needs to sign in.

Is the NTU campus map free to use?

Yes. The map is free and needs no account. It runs in your browser and works on phones and computers.

Are all NTU rooms on the map?

The map covers the 582 venues used by classes in the last two semesters, plus 1,063 other places such as food, halls, bus stops and toilets. Online classes and a few special venues have no location. If you cannot find a room, send feedback from the site so it can be checked.
