This course takes a country-by-country approach to studying the World War II in Southeast Asia. For each country or group of countries, the following aspects will be discussed: 1. Situation pre-World War II, especially with regards to foreign colonial powers 2. The timeline of Japanese invasion and involvement 3. Social, economic and political living conditions during the occupation 4. The end of the war and post-war repercussions
