This course introduces the physical and transport properties in nanoscale systems.Electron gas in 2D and multilayer systems. Quantum transport in 1D; magnetotunneling; quantum capacitance and conductance.Quantum dots and artificial atoms; eigenenergies and eigenstates; single particle conductance; Coulomb blockade; Kondo effect; Aharanov-Bohm effect.Quantum computation - electrons and quasi-electrons as qubits; state preparation, manipulation, entanglement and measurement; Rabi oscillations and single-spin detection.Some methods for quantum dot and nanostructure growth will be discussed.
