The new introductory course in materials science and engineering (MSE) aims to cultivate a deeper understanding and appreciation of MSE's multifaceted nature and diverse applications, spanning energy, healthcare, semiconductors, nanotechnology, and AI. By igniting students' curiosity and exposing them to MSE's interdisciplinary nature early on, the course seeks to inspire a passion for the eld and guide their academic choices. MSE knowledge is increasingly vital in an evolving technological landscape, offering broad career opportunities.
