Basic sentence structures and 6 basic functional components of a Chinese sentence; 300 new words related to common topics of daily conversations; recognizing and writing around 150 Chinese characters; communicative functions: planning a trip commenting on past trips; describing and comparing things; filling out some common forms related to daily life; familiarizing different means of urban transportation in China; commenting on one?s actions; asking for reasons; expressing uncertainty; confirming something has happened; expressing a duration of time; changing money at the bank; sending a parcel at post office
