Dsp System Design

AY2019/2020 Semester 1

This course aims to support you to: 1. understand the key theoretical principles underpinning DSP (Digital Signal Processing) in a design procedure through design examples and case studies. 2. learn how to use a powerful general-purpose mathematical package such as MATLAB to design and simulate a DSP system. 3. understand the architecture of a digital signal processor and some programming issues in fixed-point digital signal processor in real-time implementation. 4. learn to design a real-time signal processing algorithms using the latest fixed-point processor. The knowledge and skill in this course will be useful for the students in designing and implementing embedded system in their engineering career. Course content: Basic Construction of DSP System. Concepts on System Response. Introduction to Digital Filter Design. Introduction to Discrete Fourier Transform and Discrete Cosine Transform. DSP Systems, Processors and Alternatives. DSP Addressing and Instruction Set. Development Tools for DSP Applications.
