This course aims to provide basic knowledge on the basics of wireless systems. It introduces you to the theory, limitation and costs of wireless systems, mainly for VHF and above. You will be taught to analyse the wireless system in terms for various performance degradation due to multipath fading environment. You will learn about various multiple access techniques, cellular systems, including frequency reuse. You will learn to analyze the problems and provide tradeoffs between various link and cellular traffic performances. It gives you a good understanding on the techniques that can be used to improve the performance. Finally, the course ends with some examples on 2G, 3G and 4G or LTE network systems deployed. Contents: Introduction to Cellular Systems. Cellular Concepts and Techniques. Cellular Traffic Engineering. Cellular Performance Improvement Techniques. Mobile Communications (2G, 3G, and 4G or LTE) Systems. Types of Wireless Systems. Radio Frequency Spectrum Management. Performance Calculations.
