Practical Rationality

AY2016/2017 Semester 2

The first part of the course covers the philosophical foundations of the theory of rational decision making. It surveys important features in decision theory and game theory, and looks at recent developments and controversies in these theories. The second part of the course examines broader issues in practical rationality, such as the connection between reasons and rationality, the rational permissibility of time biased preferences, and the rational analysis of concepts related to prudent choice behavior (such as procrastination and temptation).
