Sociology Of Reproduction

AY2017/2018 Semester 1

This course will analyze the topic of human reproduction through the sociological lens - that is, we will examine reproduction as a social, cultural, economic and political phenomenon, in addition to treating it as a biological phenomenon. We will review various theories and concepts, and explore a wide range of issues including, but not limited to, teenage pregnancies, the discovery of birth control pills, 'pink parenting', abortion, fertility tourism, and population policies.
