Chinese Semasiology

AY2015/2016 Semester 2

As part of the Major Subject curriculum, this course aims to provide the students with fundamental knowledge of Chinese semasiology. Simultaneously, it aims to widen the scope of learning in historical linguistics. Significantly, students will be encouraged to differentiate between original and extended meanings and understand the importance of using Chinese semasiology as an effective tool in dissecting classical Chinese texts. The course is conducted in Mandarin.
