From selected literary works and critical essays, the subject explores topics pertinent to gender and sexuality in Chinese literature, such as the construction of gender roles in Chinese classics; sexuality in Confucian and Daoist contexts; sexuality from modern and traditional perspectives; scholar-beauty romance; the so-called Sensitive New Man and New Woman, etc.
