AY2022/2023 Semester 1

This course introduces the students to the history and theories of European integration and elaborates on the ideas and institutions behind the European Union (EU). The course will also examine the politics behind European integration, and especially on the politics of institution-al reforms and enlargement. It will then zoom in on some selected EU policies for more in-depth discussion and through these policies understand better the design, the functioning and the politics of the European Union. Taking this course will help you understand the motivations and politics behind the European integration project, to analyse and understand how policies and decisions are made in the EU, and their impact on the EU member states and broader implications for international relations. You will learn about how the EU get to where it is today and on the future trajectory of the EU.
