This subject provides students with an understanding of the developmental issues confronting the developing world. It will examine the political actors, political systems, political history, economic processes, social movements and current issues that affect these peoples? lives. Topics explored will include the impact of colonialism on current political systems, revolution, democratization, women, religion and politics, strategies of economic growth, ethnic conflict and the dilemma of pluralism. To explore these topics, particular cases will be drawn from Latin America, Africa, the Middle East and Asia.
