Stop Motion

AY2014/2015 Semester 2

Students will be taught the basics of stop motion animation. They will learn such practical skills as armature building, characters modelling, set dressing and scene building. They will also be introduced to the hardware and software needed to make the animation and the skills needed to use them. A variety of classic and contemporary stop-motion films will be studied and discussed. Unorthodox approaches to stop-motion animation will be covered such as the use of sand, pastels, claymation, live action, go-motion, and paint-on-glass. The student will ideate, develop and produce a short animation from start to finish.
