The purpose of this course is to introduce a framework for students to think about the intricate relationship between the people, the press, and various political actors. Students will gain an understanding of various theories and concepts about the role and function of the press in democratic systems, the effects of political content from the media, comparison of different media and government systems, and the role of citizens in this complex picture. This course covers the following: 1. Course explores the relationship between the people and the media 2. Effects of media on politics 3. Comparison of different press systems in different democracies.
