Simply putting journalism online does not make it online journalism, and this course aims to teach students about multimedia storytelling that make the most of the tools and affordances of interactive Web 2.0. The emphasis will be on engaging the public both as contributors and as mediators of what is valuable; and to understand which media are most effective means of telling what kinds of stories. The course looks at transferring classical journalism skills onto the Web, and also considers the emerging skills for the new paradigm of online journalism.
