Uaeb Ii Effect Of AntiMitotic Drugs On Cancer Cells

AY2014/2015 Semester 1

The aim of this workshop is to let students understand the mechanism on how anti-mitotic treatment affect cell viability in cancer therapy. Students will examine mitotic cells treated with anti-mitotic drugs for cancer therapy (Taxol and Vinblastine) using different molecular and cell biology experimental techniques. Through a series of experiments, students will appreciate how cancer cells respond to anti-mitotic drugs and how these drugs could effectively eliminate cancer cells. As we have limited numbers of microscopes for undergraduate labs, the maximum class size will be limited to 20 students. Each student will need to submit a lab report and give a presentation of the findings at the end of the workshop. The students will be graded based on lab report & presentation and participation/performance during the workshop.
