Protein Trafficking

AY2017/2018 Semester 2

This course will cover the molecular details of the secretory and endocytic pathways as secreted and membrane proteins are transported and modified from their site of synthesis in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) to the plasma membrane or sorted to intracellular organelles. Specific topics covered will include protein translocation into the ER, protein quality control in the ER, ER stress response, vesicle transport from ER to plasma membrane, regulated secretion, and basic concept in endocytosis. An emphasis on related diseases will be covered throughout the different topics.
