Biophysical Chemistry
AY2016/2017 Semester 1
This course deals with the physical principles that govern biochemical reactions, structure and assembly of biological macromolecules, as well as the physical methods used to characterize biological systems and molecules. The lectures will cover quantum theory, chemical bonding and intermolecular interactions. Basic principles of molecular spectroscopy methods. Basic principles of thermodynamics with applications to energetics of biochemical reactions and association behaviour of biological macromolecules. Chemical kinetics with applications to the principles of enzyme reactions.
