Computer Vision

Last offered — AY2021/2022 Semester 1

Computer Vision and Image Processing play very important roles in fields such as Machine and Robot Intelligence. They provide the means for the machine or robot to interact intelligently with the outside world through visual perception. Vision is undoubtedly the most powerful of all senses and enables robots to perform very flexible tasks such as moving around autonomously in a factory floor or outdoors. The applications are plentiful and very challenging. Face recognition, human activity interpretations, human-computer interaction, quality inspection of mass-produced parts, obot/vehicle guidance, medical imaging and computer vision-aided surgery are some of the applications. The objective of this course is to prepare students for working in such intelligent automation fields. Contents: Image Understanding. Edge Detection. Stereo Vision. Pattern Recognition and Artificial Intelligence.
