This is the first course on the theory and applications of numerical approximation techniques. The students will be equipped with a number of commonly used numerical algorithms, knowledge, experience of writing a program from an algorithm, and skill in performing numerical computations using MATLAB. Basics on computational errors, basic numerical methods for solutions of systems of linear equations, iterative methods for systems of linear equations, polynomial interpolation, numerical integration, numerical solutions of nonlinear equations, implementation of algorithms using MATLAB.
