Last offered — AY2015/2016 Semester 1

This course presents an introduction to the sound and morphological systems of languages in the world. Upon completing the course, students will be able to examine how language varies across speakers depending on their social and geographical backgrounds. They will also understand how power and attitude influence language use. This course complements HG101 Language, Mind and Meaning: Introduction to Linguistics A, but may be studied independently.
