Focusing on a period that was characterised by repeated division and integration in Chinese history, this course covers the periods of Spring-Autumn, Warring States, Qing, Han, Wei,Jin, South-North, Sui, Tang, and the Five Dynasties. It discusses, among others, the political institutions, territorial expansion and contraction, economic conditions, social changes, religious development, and cultural transformation and pluralism throughout this period. The influence of the non-Han culture and its interaction with the Han culture will also be explored. This is MPE subject for the second-year students and above of Chinese Program. This course provides you with background knowledge for Chinese literature, philosophy, and overseas Chinese studies in Chinese Program, and further benefits your work and career in sectors of government, education
